20 years of success doesn't just happen. Since the beginning, MedFocus has identified and developed the best talent in the industry. This is our story.

Mr. Henson has participated in the formation of more than twenty successful emerging medical technology and biotechnology firms and current serves on the Board of Directors of four medical firms, and is Chairman of three of the companies.  Mr. Henson guided six of these firms through the IPO process to become public companies as President/CEO and/or Chairman, including companies which have reached market capitalization surpassing $1 billion.  Twelve of the companies founded by Mr. Henson have been acquired by large, multinational firms.  Most recently, in September 2019, Rebound Therapeutics Corporation, parent company to Viseon, Inc. and a company co-founded by Mr. Henson was acquired by Integra LifeSciences Corporation for 4 times return to shareholders.

Ed Roschak

Ed has a track record of success with more than 25 years in the medical device industry. In addition to his role at MedFocus, Ed is President and CEO of Vascular Dynamics.  In 2020, while Chairman of ApiFix, Inc., Ed negotiated the company’s acquisition by Orthopediatrics.  Previously, Ed served as the CEO of NuVasive Specialized Orthopedics after he orchestrated the successful acquisition of his former company, Ellipse Technologies, Inc., where he was President and CEO. Prior to his seven years at Ellipse, Ed held senior leadership positions at Broncus Technologies which spun-out Ashmatx prior to its acquisition by Boston Scientific. Ed also held engineering and management roles at Hewlett-Packard, Origin Medsystems and Krebs Engineers. Ed is a named inventor on more than 40 granted patents and numerous patent applications. In addition, he has been published in the Journal of Thoracic Surgery. Ed holds a MBA from the University of Oregon Executive Program and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Michael Henson

Maria Nevarez

Maria Nevarez joined MedFocus Management Company in 2006 and serves as its’ Operations Manager and Member. Mrs. Nevarez has over 14 years of experience in the medical device industry, with expertise in a plethora of multifaceted operations including corporate fundraising and governance, risk management, contract management, human resources, and management for incubated companies.  Mrs. Nevarez also serves as corporate officer to the MedFocus portfolio companies. Mrs. Nevarez is also a US veteran, having served in the United States Navy for 9 years.

Tracy Person

Ms. Pearson is co-founder and member of MedFocus Management Company, LLC an “incubator” venture capital firm dedicated to accelerating the development of new, breakthrough medical technologies.

 

Ms. Pearson has more than 20 years of experience in corporate fundraising and 30 years in corporate administration including key roles in over 55 corporate transactions, the organization of 21 corporations and the sale of 9 corporations.  Ms. Pearson has been responsible for corporate, investor and public communications for 15 incubated companies, including 6 of which became public companies. 

 

Additional areas of expertise include corporate governance, financial management, risk management, contract management, human resources, facility site selection and management, and website creation for incubated companies.  

 

Ms. Pearson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and currently serves as corporate officer to several MedFocus portfolio companies.
